T20 World Cup2021 : India Announce Squad, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuzvendra Chahal Dropped, Virat Kohli To Lead, Mahendra Singh Dhoni Named Mentor

The national selection committee has announced the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup, to be held in the UAE next month. And there was surprises too as – Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal were not included in the 15 man team.

“Former India Captain @msdhoni to mentor the team for the T20 World Cup,” Secretary @JayShah tweeted on BCCI’s handle.

“I spoke with my colleagues — captain, vice-captain — we all were on the same page and spoke to Dhoni. He has agreed to be a part of the team management for the T20 World Cup only,” Shah said.

Ravichandran Ashwin who has not played single Test in England so far makes to the squad along with – Varun Chakravarthy and Rahul Chahar . Rohit Sharma has been named vice- captain .
The Squad is :

The standby players are – Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar

India are placed in the same group as Pakistan for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The T20 World Cup will be held in UAE and Oman between October 17 and November 14.
