Government Announces Restoration Of MPLADS Fund For Remainder Of 2021-22

Union Cabinet has decided to to restore MPLADS fund for remainder of 2021-22, announced Minister off state for finance Anurag Thakur. The Cabinet in its meeting held on 6th April, 2020 had decided not to operate MPLADS for the Financial Years 2020-21 and 2021-22; and place the MPLADS funds for these two-years at the disposal of Ministry of Finance to meet the emergent needs of people under a pandemic.

“The funds saved from the MPLAD Scheme have been utilised to enhance the allocation of funds for improving health infrastructure, provide free ration under PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, and free vaccination for the people,” the government had said in a statement in Parliament.

Funds to be released at the rate of Rs 2 crore per MP for remaining period of FY 2021-22 in one instalment and at the rate of Rs 5 crore per annum per MP during FY 2022-23 to FY 2025-26 in two instalments of Rs 2.5 crore each, Anurag Thakur said while addressing the media

PLAD is governed by a set of guidelines, which are revised from time to time based on the needs of the community with emphasis on creation of durable assets.
