#CWC23 : Powered By Scott Edwards 68, Four-Wicket Haul By Paul van Meekeren Netherlands Beat Bangladesh By 87 Runs

After having shocked South Africa, Netherlands once again came out with a spirited show to beat Bangladesh emphatically by 87 runs at Eden Gardens. Kolkata in a CWC23 encounter.

Netherlands won the toss and opted to bat first . They lost openers Vikramjit Singh early for ( 3) , Max ODowd ( 0). Wesley Barresi ( 41 put innings back on track . Colin Ackermann fell for ( 15). Skipper Scott Edwards backed his batting first call with a fine 68 ( 89 balls , 6 fours), Bas de Leede ( 17), Sybrand Engelbrecht ( 35), Logan van Beek 23 not out as the Dutch managed to score 229/ 10 in their 50 overs. Recovering from 107/ 7 in 27 overs.

Bangladesh bowling was spot on with regular wickets : Shoriful Islam 2/ 51 ( 10 overs), Taskin Ahmed 2/ 43 ( 9 overs), Skipper Shakib Al Hasan 1/ 37 ( 9 overs), Mehidy Hasan Miraz 0/ 17 ( 4 overs), Mustafizur Rahman2/ 26 ( 10 overs), Mahedi Hasan 2/ 40 ( 7 overs)

In reply, Bangladesh failed to forge a partnership and losing regular wickets did not help their cause and they could not carry on. The big innings never came . Openers Litton Das ( 3 ), Tanzid Hasan ( 15) flopped . The middle- order too followed – Mehidy Hasan Miraz ( 35), Najmul Hossain Shanto ( 9), Skipper Shakib Al Hasan ( 5), Mushfiqur Rahim ( 1), Mahmudullah ( 20), Mahedi Hasan ( 17) , Taskin Ahmed ( 11), Mustafizur Rahman ( 20), Shoriful Islam not out 0 . Bangaldesh collapsing to 142/ 10 in 42. 2 overs.
