#TATAIPL2022 : Match 6 – Royal Challengers Bangalore Beat Kolkata Knight Riders In Low Scoring Last Over Thriller By 3 Wickets

In the sixth match of Tata IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai between Royal Challenger Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders was a low scoring thriller. RCB almost made a mess chasing a modest target but held on to win by three wickets.

Put into bat by RCB skipper Faf du Plessis, Kolkata Knight Riders struggled from the start. The KKR batting flopped as none of their batsmen could make their presence felt . Ajinkya Rahane ( 9) , Venkatesh Iyer ( 10) , skipper Shreyas Iyer ( 13) , Nitish Rana ( 10 ), Sunil Narine ( 12 ) , Sam Billings ( 14) , Andre Russell ( 25) , Umesh Yadav ( 18) towards the end hit some lusty shots . Varun Chakaravarthy was unbeaten on 10. KKR were eventually bowled out for   128/ 10  in 18.5 overs.

For RCB , Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was the star with stunning figures of 4/20  ( 4 overs). Well supported by Akash Deep 3/ 45 ( 3.5 overs), Harshal Patel 2/11 ( 4 overs) , Mohammed Siraj 1/ 25 ( 4 overs) , Shahbaz Ahmed 0/16 ( 1 overs) , David Willey 0/7 ( 2 overs)

Chasing a modest total, RCB overcame early jitters with  Skipper Faf du Plessis ( 5) , Anuj Rawat ( 0), Virat Kohli ( 12 ) falling  early  . They were reeling at 17/ 3  in 2.1 overs. But David Willey ( 18 ), Sherfane Rutherford ( 28) , Shahbaz Ahmed ( 27) though not big scores kept them in the hunt.

It was  left to experienced finisher Dinesh Karthik to take RCB home . Needing 17 off last two overs, Harshal Patel smashed two fours, while Dinesh Karthik (14 not out) blasted a six and a four in the first two balls of the last over to take the team home.

For KKR, They did try their best to defend but their  total was simply not enough. Umesh Yadav 2/ 16 ( 4 overs) , Tim Southee 3/20 ( 4 overs) , Andre Russell was bit expensive 0/ 36 in 2.2 overs, Sunil Narine 1 / 12 ( 4 overs) , Varun Chakaravarthy 1/ 33 ( 4 overs), Venkatesh Iyer  0/ 10 ( 1 over)
