Lucknow Super Giants came out a all- round show to beat The Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs in the 12th match of Tata IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
SRH skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and fielded first. As first his move looked perfect as Lucknow Super Giants were struggling at one point a 27/ 3 in 4.5 overs. But skipper K L Rahul in fine form hit 68 off 50 balls with six fours and 1 six. Deepak Hooda who has impressed all continued his good form with 51 off 33 balls with three fours and three sixes. Ayush Badoni ( 19 ) , Manish Pandey ( 11) saw the LSG team reach a fighting 169/ 7 in their 20 overs
For SRH , Washington Sundar 2/28 ( 4 overs), Romario Shepherd 2/ 42 ( 4 overs) , T Natarajan 2/26 ( 4 overs) were the wicket- takers . Umran Malik bowled with pace but could not get any wicket 0/ 39 ( 3 overs)
The Sunrisers lost wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Kane Williamson promised big but fell for 16. Co- opener Abhishek Sharma 13. Rahul Tripathi added momentum to the chase with 30 ball 44 ( five fours , 1 six) , Aiden Markram was out for 12 . The much talked about Nicholas Pooran scored 34 off 24 balls ( three fours , 2 sixes). It was SRH misery that Tripathi and Pooran fell just when they seemed in control to take their side home. Washington Sundar 18 . SRH eventually finishing at 157/ 9 in their 20 overs thus losing by mere 12 runs. They need to look at their death bowling and batting in the matches ahead
For The Lucknow Super Giants, seamer Avesh Khan was splendid with 4/ 24 ( 4 overs) . Avesh bagged wickets when ever skipper K L Rahul brought him . Playing his first match West Indian Jason Holder was impressive against his former franchise bagging 3/ 34 ( 4 overs) , Krunal Pandya rolled his wily spin well for 2/ 27 ( 4 overs) , Andrew Tye 0/ 39 ( 4 overs) , Ravi Bishnoi 0/ 29 ( 4 overs) struggled to fine their line and hence went wicketless.
