In what has been a struggling season five- time winners Mumbai Indians finally had some thing to cheer as they beat equally listless Lucknow Super Giants in a Tata IPl 2026 encounter at Wankhede.
Big news from MI was that regular Skipper Hardik Pandya missing out and India’s T20 World Cup winning Skipper Suryakumar Yadav leading the team in this match. SKY won the toss and opted to field first.
LSG lost opener Josh Inglis for 13 , Mitchell Marsh once again was guilty of shot slection when on mood for a big score out for 44 ( 25 balls, 4 fours, 3 sixes), Skipper Rishabh Pant inconsistent yet again out for just 15 . Nicholas Pooran after series of poor scores finally got a big one that too so late for LSG in the tournament 63 ( 21 balls 1 four, 8 sixes ).
When Marsh and Pooran fell the LSG score was 125-3, 8.5 overs. 250 plus was on the cards surely. But that did not happen as MI bowlers pulled things back . Akshat Raghuwanshi out for 11. Aiden Markram not out 31 ( 25 balls 1 four, 1 six) and Himmat Singh 40 not out ( 31 balls , 2 fours, 2 sixes). LSG finishing at 228/5 in 20 overs .
MI Bowling : Deepak Chahar 0/43 ( 4 overs), Jasprit Bumrah 0/45 ( 4 overs) a season to forget really , AM Ghazanfar 1/50 ( 4 overs), Will Jacks 1/34 ( 2 overs), Corbin Bosch 2/20 ( 2 overs) made an impact , Raghu Sharma 1/36 ( 4 overs)
