Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has arrived at his residence in Ranchi and held meetings with party’s MLA’s and ministers . Thus bringing an end to suspense around his going missing. He is being probed by ED in money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam.

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren wrote to the Enforcement Directorate. The letter reads, ” You are well aware that the Budget Session of the Legislative Assembly will be held between 2nd and 29th February 2024 and the undersigned will be pro-occupied with preparations for the same apart from other prior scheduled official engagements. In these circumstances, your insistence to record a further statement of the undersigned on or before 31st January 2024 rocks of malice and reveals your political agenda to disrupt the functioning of the State Government and prevent an elected representative of the people from discharging his official duties. The undersigned’s apprehensions that your acts are malefice and politically motivated stand vindicated. The issuance of summon to the undersigned is wholly vexatious and in the colourable exercise of powers given by the statute”

Earlier, Jharkhand BJP president Babulal Marandi had claimed that a constitutional crisis-like situation was created in the state due to “sudden disappearance” of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

He also announced a reward of Rs 11,000 from his side for providing information about the chief minister and posted a ‘missing’ poster of the CM on X.

Speaking to reporters, Marandi said, “Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren has been missing for the last two days. It is a serious issue that the director general of police and the intelligence department of the state are not aware of the location of the CM”.

Enforcement Directorate has recovered Rs 36 lakhs in cash and also seized two cars from the Delhi residence of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren during the probe into a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam: Sources told ANI

On ED probe against Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Minister Banna Gupta told ANI , ” Honourable CM is in the hearts of Jharkhand people. He has said that he will answer all the questions of ED as per the deadline given by ED, let the deadline come..I don’t want to make any comments on ED, everything will come to people’s court, they are the head in democracy. People set the narrative regarding what is happening to whom, and why is it happening…”

JMM leader Manoj Pandey told ANI , An elected govt is harassing an elected CM, is it a sin to be a tribal? Hemant Soren had informed ED that he would be available on 31st January, ED himself had given a deadline of 31st January, so why was a probe on January 29, why so much desperation? He is a beloved CM not a fugitive…this is an insult to the people of Jharkhand and the tribals…”
