Playing for pride after a 0-3 scoreline at their own backyard New Zealand finally got a win under their belt as they beat India by 87 runs in the fourthT20I in Auckland. Earlier India Skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss yet agaian and asked the Balck caps to bat first.
New Zealand got off to a horror start losing opener Tim Seifert early for just 3 to Mayank Yadav with total reading 5-1, 1 over. Daryl Mitchell was the next to go for a quick 22 ( 9 balls 2 fours, 2 sixes), Aggressive opener Finn Allen showed the intent scoring 17 ball 31 ( 2 fours, 2 sixes) but like Mitchell could not carry on .
The stage was set for New Zealand’s batsman of the series Glenn Phillips to take charge . And muscleman Phillips took charge in his own dominating way . He tore apart the listless Indian attack with his power shots all around the ground. Phillips was in punishing mood racing to 50 in 31 balls . It was absolute carnage as Phillips blasted a stunnings innings of 107 ( 49 balls 6 fours , 10 sixes). Phillips has been brilliant in this series and his scores say it all – – 82*(40) in 1st T20I – 70(43) in 2nd T20I – 107(49) in 4th T20I

Michael Bracewell gave Phillips super support and was equally devastating as he scored much to the agony of Indian Skipper Shreyas Iyer 65 ( 25 balls , 4 fours, 6 sixes). Bevon Jacobs was out for 7 . Skipper Mitchell Santer was out for 5 . Nathan Smith not out 6 , Adam Milne 1 not out 1 as New Zealand posted their highest ever T20I total of 259/7 in their 20 overs. It was splendind batting effort.
India Bowling : Mayank Yadav began well but gave runs later 3/48 ( 4 overs), Arshdeep Singh 1/38 ( 4 overs) it was his record 15othT20I wicket , Prince Yadav 1/49 ( 4 overs), Nitish Kumar Reddy was hammered 1/64 ( 4 overs) including one over going for 32 runs, Axar Patel 1/43 ( 3 overs) has struggled in New Zealand conditions, Naman Dhir 0/16 ( 1 over)
India in reply surprised many by not including 15- year old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the line- up. Easpecially after Vaibhav had scored a 19 ball 45 in the third T20I and featured in the rollicking opening partnership with Abhishek Sharma. Sanju Samson went out with Abhishek Sharma. But The Kiwis struck early with Jacob Duffy getting Samson early for 4 and then in the very fiorst over caught and bowled back in the side Ishan Kishan for 0. India rocked 4/2 .
Abhishek Sharma even after he was dropped by Santner did not last long and was out for 27 ( 15 balls, 3 fours 1 six) . Skipper Shreyas Iyer raced to quick 22 before he was bolwed for 22 off Adam Milne. Axar Patel was out for 7 . Nitish Kumar Reddy threw his bat around for 21 ( 10 balls 2 sixes). Tilak Varam scored a run- a ball 35 ( 35 balls, 1 four , 3 sixes), Naman Dhir holed out after scoring 28 ( 13 balls 2 fours, 2 sixes).
The Kiwis rocked India with regular wickets but in the process dropped several catches. An attribute you never see in the New Zealand side . Arshdeep Singh 0, Prince Yadav not out 18 , Mayank Yadav not out 3 as India managed to score 172/ 9 in their 20 overs. New Zealand win a consolationg match by 87 runs
New Zealand Bowling : Jacob Duffy outstanding 4/23 ( 4 overs), Adam Milne 1/35 ( 4 overs), Nathan Smith 0/47 ( 4 overs), Matthew Fisher 2/40 ( 4 overs), Mitchell Santner 2/24 ( 4 overs).
New Zealand would rue that one of their biggest strengths fielding has been huge let down in the series. The first two matches were in their grasp but they let it slip away by dropping some sitters . The Kiwis now have the five- match ODI’s beginning on 4th November to make amends for the T20I series loss. India on the other hand would like to maintain the winning momentum.
