Gujarat Titans powered their way to top of the points table in the Tata IPL 2026 with a thumping win over Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs. Thereby setting up a tight race for the play-offs .
Earlier SRH Skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first . SRH bowlers did well to restrict the GT batting line- up on rathet tricky pitch that assisted the seam bolwers . GT lost in- from skipper Shubman Gill for 5 , Jos Buttler for 7 with the total 26-2, 5.1 overs.
But GT got some important contributions that made the diffrence at the end – Sai Sudharsan top- scored with 61 ( 44 balls 5 fours, 2 sixes), Nishant Sindhu 22 ( 14 balls , 3 fours, 1 six), Washington Sundar a fine 51 ( 33 balls , 7 fours, 1 six). Jason Holder not out 11 , Rahul Tewatia not out 4. GT reaching 168/5 in their 20 overs.
For SRH , Skipper Pat Cummins gave it all. In his two overs gave away just 8 runs . Eventually finishing with 1/20 ( 4 overs). Nitish Kumar Reddy 0/27 ( 3 overs), Eshan Malinga 0/46 ( 4 overs), Sakib Hussain 2/27 ( 4 overs), Praful Hinge 2/17 ( 3 overs), Shivang Kumar 0/19 ( 2 overs)
In reply , the much talked about SRH batting line- up collapsed like a pack of cards chasing a modest total . Travis Head 0 , Abhishek Sharma 6 , Ishan Kishan 11, Smaran Ravichandran 9, Heinrich Klaasen 14, Salil Arora 16, Nitish Kumar Reddy 2. Skipper Pat Cummins was top- scorer in the embarassing line- up with 19 . Shivang Kumar 4, Praful Hinge 3, Eshan Malinga not out 0. SRH bowled out for a a dissapointing 86/10 in 14.5 overs.

GT pacers were red hot from the start and SRH batsmen had no clue . Mohammed Siraj 1/11 ( 3 overs) started the silde with Head wicket . Then Kagiso Rabada took over3/28 ( 4 overs), supported well by Jason Holder 3/20 ( 4 overs), Prasidh Krishna 2/23 ( 3 overs), Rashid Khan 1/3 ( 0.5) .
SRH Skipper Pat Cummins post- match defended his batting line-up saying they have done well with all top four getting 400 plus runs . Ahe did not read too much into the loss saying it happens in T20 cricket.
