Delhi Capitals pulled off a thrilling 3 wicket win over Punjab Kings in a Tata IPL 2026 encounter in the picturesque HPCA stadium, Dharamsala . Earlier DC needing to win to keep their play-offs hopes alive won the toss and opted to field first.
Punjab Kings were off to a flier racing to total of 78-1, 6.5 overs with their explosive openers – Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. Prabhsimran Singh was first out for 18 . Arya was superb in his 56 ( 33 balls, 2 fours, 6 sixes), Cooper Connolly 38 .
Skipper Shreyas Iyer was unbeaten on 59 ( 36 balls 5 fours, 3 sixes). Quick wickets towards the end thwarted Punjab’s hopes of 230-240 target. Marcus Stoinis 1, Shashnk Singh 0 . Suryansh Shedge played nice cameo with 21 not out ( 8 balls 2 , fours 2 sixes) as Punjab reached 210/5 in their 20 overs.
Delhi Capitals Bowling : DC Skipper surprised all by bowling all semers right through the 20 overs. Mitchell Starc 2/57 ( 4 overs), Auqib Nabi Dar 0/32 ( 4 overs), Lungi Ngidi 0/46 ( 4 overs), Mukesh Kumar 131( 4 overs), Madhav Tiwari in his first match impressed 2/40 ( 4 overs)
In reply Delhi Capitals were jolted early with KL Rahul out for 9, new opening partner Abhishek Porel out for 5 , Sahil Parakh 13 , Tristan Stubbs run- out for 12 . DC reeling at a precarious 74-4, 8.2 overs.
Fortunately for DC Skipper Axar Patel finally getting some runs under his belt that too so late in the tournament 56 ( 30 balls , 8 fours 2 sixes). David Miller once again showcased his power and range of shots. Miller in quick time blasted a 28 ball 51 ( 3 fours, 4 sixes). It rattled Punjab Kings. Then Ashutosh Sharma took over hitting 24 ( 10 balls 2 fours, 2 sixes) but fell when near the target. Madhav Tiwari not out 18 ( 8 balls 2 fours, 1 six) and Auqib Nabi Dar who hit winning run six was not out 10 ( 2 balls 1 four, 1 six) saw DC home by three wickets . DC reaching 216/7 in 19 overs.

Punjab Bowling : Arshdeep Singh 2/21 ( 4 overs) was excellent at the top , the rest disappointed Yash Thakur 2/55 ( 4 overs) , Marco Jansen 0/45 ( 4 overs), Ben Dwarshuis 1/51 ( 4 overs), Marcus Stoinis 1/44 ( 3 overs). Punjab Kings have to arrest this slide . This has been their case in IPL seasons al;ways . Starting with a bang and then wobble torads the crucial end of the tournament.
