Defending Champions India stormed into the ICC T20 2026 final as they survived a strong English challenge winning just 7 runs in a thrilling second- semi-final encounter at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede stadium. The match was a high scoring thriller and the crowds got their money’s worth.
Earlier English Skipper harry Brook won the toss and opted to bowl first. A move that he woud rue later on as India posed an imposing 253/7 in their alloted 20 overs. India lost a hopleessley out- off form Abhishek Sharma for just 9 with the total at 20/1. Sanju Samson in blazing form continued where he left off .
Dropped on 15 by English Skipper Harry Brook off Jofra Archer Samson made the three lions pay heavily as he smashed a blistering 89 ( 42 balls, 8 fours, 7 sixes). Ishan Kishan joied the party with a quick 39 ( 18 balls , 4 fours, 2 sixes). Promoted up the order ahead of struggling Skipper Suryakumar Yadav , Shivam Dube paid back the confidence striking a fine 43 ( 25 balls, 1 four, 4 sixes). SKY could manage 11.

Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma added English woes with important camoes . Hardik 27 ( 12 balls , 3 fours 2 sixes), Tilak 21 ( 7 balls , 3 sixes). Axar patel not out 2 and Varun Chakaravarthy not out 0.
English bowlers were sent on a leather hunt . Jofra Archer expensive 1/61 ( 4 overs), Will Jacks 2/40 ( 4 overs) , Jamie Overton 0/36 ( 3 overs), Sam Curran 0/53 ( 4 overs), Adil Rashid 2/41 ( 4 overs), Liam Dawson 0/19 ( 1 over)

In reply to the big India total. England lost explosive opner Phil Salt early for 5 . Out of touch Jos Buttler struggled and could make only 25. Thus ending miserable tournament form his standards. Skipper Harry Brook filed when it mattered most out for 7. England’s innings were in tatters . Tom Banton 17. Will Jacks who had bailed them out on numerous times made 35.
But the English innings got the spark thanks to an unbelievebale innings by young Jacob Bethell. He simply kept England in the chase by scoring fabulous 48 ball ton 105 ( 7 fours 8 sixes) but got no support. Had Bethell got some support from the other end the end result could have been diffrent . Sam Curran 18. Jamie Overton not out 2 and Jofra Archer not out 19 as England could score 246/7 in their 20 overs.
India bowlers led by Jasprit Bumrah just managed to ward off the English Challenge . Bumrah 1/33 ( 4 overs), Arshdeep Singh 1/51 ( 4 overs), Hardik Pandya 2/38 ( 4 overs), Varun Chakaravarthy was hammered 1/64 ( 4 overs), Shivam Dube 0/22 ( 1 over), Axar Patel 1/35 9 3 overs)
India will now play New Zealand in the final at Ahmedabad on March 8 .
