Gujarat Titans proved too good for the Chennai Super Kings as they beat the defending champions who are already out of the play- offs with a convincing seven wicket win on hot day game at Wankhede stadium.
In the 62nd match of the Tata IPL 2022 CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and batted first. CSK batsmen found runs hard to come by. Opener Devon Conway was out to a beauty from Mohammed Shami for 5. Other opener Rituraj Gaikwad struggled for his 53 that came off 49 balls with fours 4 fours and one six. Moeen Ali was out for ( 21). Narayan Jagadeesan scored 39 but faced 33 balls. The CSK innings never got the momentum. Boundaries were hard to come by. Shivam Dube ( 0) and Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni failed to fire out for ( 7). CSK huffed and puffed their way to reach a below par 133/ 6 in their 20 overs.
The Titans bowlers were on top and did not allow any freebies. Mohammed Shami 2/ 19 ( 4 overs) was the pick of the bowlers yet again. Supported well by Rashid Khan 1/ 31 ( 4 overs), Yash Dayal 0/ 27 (3 overs), Hardik Pandya 0/ 8 ( 2 over), Alzarri Joseph 1/ 15 (3 overs), Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore 1/ 31 ( 4 overs)
In reply the Titans were never under pressure. Shubman Gill ( 18) , Matthew Wade ( 20), Skipper Hardik Pandya ( 7) were dismissed. But opener Wriddhiman Saha in fine form cracked yet another fine unbeaten fifty a 57 ball 67 ( 8 fours, 1 six) and With David Miller not out 15 saw the table toppers romp home in 19.1 overs reaching 137/ 3.
