The 11th match of the Tata IPL 2022 saw the defending Champions Chennai Super Kings lose their third match . This time they were outclassed by the Punjab Kings at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja won the toss and fielded first . Punjab skipper Mayank Agarwal fell early for 4. Co-opener Shikhar Dhawan stroked 33 , Dangerous Sri Lankan Bhanuka Rajapaksa was run-out for 9 . But Englishman known for power hitting Liam Livingstone came to the party and hit a blistering 32 ball 60 with five fours and five sixes. Jitesh Sharma scored 26 .Punjab finishing at 180/ 8 in their 20 overs.
For CSK the wicket-takers were : Chris Jordan 2/23 ( 4 overs) , Dwayne Bravo 1/32 (3 overs), Ravindra Jadeja 1/ 34 ( 4 overs) , Dwaine Pretorius 2/30 (4 overs), Mukesh Choudhary was hammered 1/ 52 ( 4 overs)
In reply , CSK got off to a horror start and were reeling at 23/ 4 in 5. 3 overs. Robin Uthappa (13), Ruturaj Gaikwad ( 1), Moeen Ali (0), Ambati Rayudu ( 13) , Skipper Ravindra Jadeja ( 0). Shivam Dube battled hard for his 30 ball 57 with six fours and three sixes. Mahendra Singh Dhoni played a very slow innings 23 off 28 balls. CSK never really were in the hunt as they were bowled out for 126 in 118 overs giving Punjab kings their second win. This time by an emphatic 54 runs.
For Punjab their bowlers did a fine job . Vaibhav Arora 2/21 (4 overs) , Kagiso Rabada 1/28 (3 overs), Arshdeep Singh 1/ 13 (2 overs), Odean Smith 1/14 ( 2 overs) Rahul Chahar was impressive 3/ 25 ( 4 overs), Liam Livingstone delivered an all- round show with 2/25 (3 overs)
