Mumbai Indians powered by Trent Boult with the ball and Rohit Sharma with the bat thrashed listless Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets in a Tata IPL 2025 encounter in Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Earlier Hardik Pandya won the toss and put SRH in on their backyard . And MI bowlers wrecked havoc . The SRH batting once again flopped – Travis Head ( 0) , Abhishek Sharma ( 8).

Ishan Kishan dismissal raised noise. and buzz of fixing. In the third over, left-hander Kishan tried to work pacer Deepak Chahar’s first delivery, which was drifting down the leg side. The ball was collected by MI wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton and neither him nor the bowler showed any inclination to appeal for a caught behind.

On-field umpire Vinod Seshan was also close to declaring it a wide, But, to everyone’s surprise, Kishan walked towards the pavillion indicating he had edged it to the keeper. Replays showed the ball did not brush Kishan’s bat or gloves when it passed him, and there was no spike on the UltraEdge either .In most occasions, a batter knows if he has edged the ball or not.

Kishan’s dismissal saw SRH slump to 9/2 in the third over. SRH woe continued with out off form Nitish Kumar Reddy ( 1) , Aniket Verma ( 12) . SRH were reeling at 35/ 5 in 8. 3 overs. The game was truly over. There and then .

Had not Heinrich Klaasen played his best of the season SRH would have been further decimated . Heinrich Klaasen stood tall amongst the ruins to score a fine fighting 71 ( 44 balls, 9 fours , 2 sixes) . Abhinav Manohar 43 ( 37 balls , 2 fours, 3 sixes) gave some support in otherwise pathetic batting show. SRH struggled to reach 143/ 8 in their 20 overs. Just not enough to defend against the power MI batting line-up.

Trent Boult was the wrecker in-chief  of the SRH batting with a super figures of 4/ 26 his best of the season. Well supported by Deepak Chahar and Mitchell Santner.

MI Bowling : Deepak Chahar 2/ 12 (  4 overs) , Trent Boult 4/ 26 ( 4 overs) , Jasprit Bumrah 1/ 39 ( 4 overs), Mitchell  Santner 0/ 19 ( 4 overs) , Hardik Pandya 1/ 31 ( 3 overs) ,  Vignesh Puthur 0/ 15 ( 1 over)

In reply MI were on a roll  despite losing  opener Ryan Rickelton ( 11) early. SRH did not have the target. Rohit Sharma hit his second back-to-back fifty  this time  he was out but not before scoring  a  sublime 70 ( 46 balls, 8 fours, 3 sixes) .  Rohit’s form is good sign for MI going ahead.

Will Jacks was out  for 22. MI were hardly bothered . In- form Suryakumar Yadav produced a blazing unbeaten innings of 40 ( 19 balls, 5 fours, 2 sixes) and Tilak Varma not out 2 saw MI romp home by 7 wickets reaching 146/ 3 in 15. 4 overs and 26 balls left.

The fourth win in a row  took MI to third in the points table while SRH remained on disappointing 9th. It was their SRH’s sixth loss in eight games. SRH’s qualifying hopes are now well and truly over with six matches to play.

SRH Bowling :  Pat Cummins 0/ 31 ( 3 overs) , Jaidev Unadkat 1/ 25 ( 3 overs) , Harshal Patel 0/ 21 ( 3 overs), Eshan Malinga 1/ 33 ( 3 overs), Zeeshan Ansari 1/ 36 ( 3.4 overs)
