#TATAIPL-2024-28 : Riding On Brute Power Of Phil Salt , Kolkata Knight Riders Thrash Lucknow Super Giants By 8 Wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders continue their impressive run at the Tata IPL 2024 as they thrashed Lucknow Super Giants by 8 wickets in an encounter at Eden Gardens Kolkata.

KKR Skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to field first > KKR bowlers kept the LSG batsmen in check from the very beginning. Quinton de Kock fell early for 8 . Skipper K L Rahul rather subdued this season scored yet another 30 plus . K L Rahul was out for 39 ( 27 balls , 3 fours, 2 sixes). Deepak Hooda ( 8), Ayush Badoni 29 ( 27 balls , 2 fours, 1 six), Marcus Stoinis ( 10) . The LSG total then was 95-4, 11.4 overs.

However, Nicholas Pooran gave some power push with aggressive 45 ( 32 balls 2 fours, 4 sixes) . AS LSG struggled to reach 161/ 7 in their 20 overs . Not good enough against a strong KKR batting line-up .

KK Bowling was spot on : Mitchell Starc ( the most expensive buy in IPL history) repaid the faith with a fine figures of 3/ 28 ( 4 overs), Vaibhav Arora 1/ 34 ( 3 overs), Harshit Rana 0/ 35 ( 4 overs), Sunil Narine 1/ 17 ( 4 overs) was superb. Varun Chakaravarthy 1/ 30 ( 4 overs), Andre Russell 1/ 16 ( 1 over)

In reply. KKR lost Sunil Narine early for ( 6) . Angkrish Raghuvanshi followed soon for ( 7) . That was it. LSG bowlers were sent on a leather hunt soon after as Skipper Shreyas Iyer and Opener Phil Salt demolished the LSG bowling in a superb match- winning unbeaten partnership .

Philip Salt was simply brilliant with shots all- round the wicket . Salt hammered 89 ( 47 balls , 14 fours, 3 Sixes) and Iyer 38 ( 38 balls , 6 fours ) Both Salt and Iyer remained unbeaten and saw KKR home with ease . KKR reaching 162/ 2 in 15. 4 overs).

And watching KKR win convincingly from the stands was the team’s co-owner Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

LSG had a night to forget with Bowling figures : Shamar Joseph 0/ 47 ( 4 overs), Mohsin Khan 2/ 29 ( 4 overs) , 0/ 14 ( 1 over), Yash Thakur 0/ 25 ( 2 overs), Arshad Khan 0/ 24 ( 2 overs) Ravi Bishnoi 0/ 17 ( 2.4 overs)
