File Picture

Supermodel Cara Delevingne is set to make her theatrical debut at London’s West End with the musical “Cabaret”.

Delevingne, known for films such as “Anna Karenina” and “Suicide Squad”, will essay the role of Sally Bowles in the play.

“Cabaret” is a musical based on 1951’s play “I Am a Camera” by John Van Druten, which itself is based on Christopher Isherwood’s 1939 novel “Goodbye to Berlin”.

Cabaret is considered to be one of the most successful musicals of all time. In the same, the supermodel will play the iconic role of Sally Bowles while Luke Treadaway will play the role of the Emcee.

Cabaret is set in 1929-1930 Berlin during the dusk of the Jazz Age as the Nazis were coming to prominence. It revolves around the nightlife at a club called Kit Kat Klub and focuses on the American writer Clifford Bradshaw and his relationship with English cabaret performer Sally Bowles. Emcee is someone who keeps a tab on everything that happens at the club worth noticing.

Cabaret has been running in the West End since December 2021, and in 2022 won a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards, the most for any musical revival.
