Supreme Court has granted bail to Aam Aadami Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in a money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy scam.

A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna, Dipankar Datta and P B Varale ordered the release of Sanjay Singh, who has been in jail for six months.

The Enforcement Directorate said it has no objection if the AAP leader Sanjay Singh is given bail in the case.

On Supreme Court granted bail to AAP MP Sanjay Singh, AAP leader Atishi quoted by ANI ANI while speaking to media said , “… We saw how since the last two years AAP leaders are being framed and arrested in false cases… During the court proceedings of Sanjay Singh’s bail petition today, two important things have come to light. First, when the Supreme Court asked ED the whereabouts of the money trail, ED had no answer… Second, the entire case of this so-called Excise Policy Scam with the ED is based on statements given by approvers. The first few statements given by these approvers were not considered because they did not name AAP leaders. They were pressurised and arrested till they did not name our party leaders.”

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj told ANI, “Today’s day will be considered as a great milestone in the Indian democracy. Supreme Court’s three-judge bench gave bail to Sanjay Singh…Where is the money trail in all this?…”

Congress MP Pramod Tiwari told ANI , “Truth can be troubled but not defeated. I will say ‘Satyameva Jayate.’ I heartily welcome the decision of the court. I have a question in the context of law regarding the bail of Sanjay Singh… On the set of evidence, Sanjay Singh is granted bail, the same set of evidence is against Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia as well. The High Court should grant bail immediately….”

Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav quoted by ANI said , “I hope that gradually the court of this country will release everyone and the truth will prevail.”
