#Kolhapur : After Violence , Situation Returning To Normal ; Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Appeals For Peace And Calm

The situation in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur is gradually returning to normal, a day after violence during a demonstration against the alleged use of Tipu Sultan’s image along with an objectionable audio message as social media “status” by a few locals, a senior police official said on Thursday.

It’s the government’s responsibility to maintain law and order in the state. I also appeal to the public for peace and calm. Police investigation is underway and action will be taken against those found guilty, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde on Kolhapur incident was quoted as saying by ANI

As per ANI report, Tensions broke out during protests yesterday over some youth allegedly posting objectionable posts on social media with a reference to Aurangzeb.

At least 36 people have so far been arrested and cases registered in connection with the violence, he said.

Businessmen opened their establishments and people were seen buying items of daily need from shops in Kolhapur city.

There is no forgiveness in Maharashtra for those who praise Aurangzeb. Police are also taking action.
