India began their three- match ODI series against Afghanistan on impressive note as trhey beat them by 7 wickets in a rain- curtailed tie at Dharamsala. The match was reduced to 25 over per side .
India Skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field first . Afghans were joled early as opener Ibrahim Zadran was out for just 1 . Sediqullah Atal followed soon after for 0 , Rahmat Shah 3 . Skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi battled hard for his 27 , Azmatullah Omarzai chipped in with 26 , Mohammad Nabi 9 , Rashid Khan 9 , AM Ghazanfar 0 , Zia Ur Rahman Sharifi 4 . Mohammad Saleem Safi not out 1 .
The Afghan total of 194 /10 in 24.5 overs was largely due to the fabulous ton by opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz. He smashed a superb 102 ( 51 balls 8 fours, 8 sixes) . It was brilliant innings when wickets were falling around him. He remained calm and delighted all with his strokeplay all- around the ground.
Two debutant bolwers for India – spinner Harsh Dubey and seamer Gurnoor Brar impressed in their first outing . In reply chasing a modest 195 , India were were cautious . Rohit Sharma began well but was unfortunately run-out for 16 . Ishan Kishan scored a qucik 34 ( 22 balls, 3 fours, 1 six), newly appointed T20I skipper Shreyas Iyer out for 12 . K L Rahul was not out with 39 ( 19 balls 4 fours 3 sixes).
The man who anchored the Indian innings and made the target a easy one at the end was skipper Shubman Gill. Gill in sublime form struck a fine unbeaten 84 ( 66 balls, 11 fours , 2 sixes) as India romped hiome to reach 195/3 in 22.5 overs and win by seven wickets. And take a 1-0 lead in the three- match series.
