West Indies produced a sensational batting display to stun India by six wickets in the second match of the five- match T20I series in Ranchi. It was a high scoring encounter yet again.
Earlier, West Indies Skipper Shai Hope won the toss and opted to field first . India got off to aflying start with Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson . The duo put on 42 for the first wicket in powerplay in 4 overs. Abhishek was the first out for 20 . Sanju Samson undre fire for poor scores silenced critics with a power-packed innings of 82 ( 41 balls 9 fours, 4 sixes) , Ishan Kishan joined the party with a quick 43 ( 22 balls 6 fours , 2 sixes) . Shivam Dube missed out dismissed for 7 .
Skipper Shreyas Iyer fresh from his first T20I hundred in previous game looked in fine touch as blasted 40 ( 18 balls 3 fours 3 sixes), Tilak Varma too joined the run feast stroking an aggressive 44 not out ( 18 balls 3 fours, 3 sixes) , Naman Dhir not out 1 . India finished on a strong total of 249/5 in their 20 overs . West Indies would need some special batting to win this one .
West Indian Bowlers were sent on leather hunt . Akeal Hosein 0/46 ( 3 overs), Romario Shepherd 0/47 ( 3.4 overs) , Roston Chase 3/24 ( 4 0vers) Gudakesh Motie 0/21 ( 2 overs) , Shamar Joseph 0/39 ( 3 overs), Shamar Springer 0/64 ( 4 overs) , Rovman Powell 0/7 ( 0.2 overs) .
In reply to the massive Indian total , West Indies were rocked early 5/2 . Mayank Yadav striking the twin blows taking wickets of – Kamil Pooran 4 , Shimron Hetmyer 0. India were on top. But the happy mood in the Indian camp changed quickly as West Indies Skipper Shai Hope in blistering form blasted yet another match – winning innings to shock India and the large crowd . Hope was devastating in his unbeaten 45 Ball 102 ( 6 fours, 9 sixes). . Hope was well backed by Rovman Powell 24 ( 13 balls , 4 fours, 1 six) ,
Sherfane Rutherford added more salt into India’s wounds and exposed India’s brittle bowling with a blazing 84 ( 37 balls 7 fours, 7 sixes) . Romario Shepherd played the way he does blazing away 34 not out ( 13 balls 3 fours, 3 sixes) along with Hope saw West Indies home by six wickets in a spectacular chase . West Indies reaching 252/4 in 18. 3 overs.
The five-match series is now level at 1-1 after the Windies pulled off the highest T20I chase against India, which is also the overall second-highest chase in the format.
