Group Captain Varun Singh, the lone survivor of the Tamil Nadu Helicopter crash that killed CDS Bipin Rawat and others has passed away. As a result all the 14 on- board the ill – fated helicopter had died. He was was under treatment at Command Hospital in Bengaluru.

As soon as the news came in Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his anguish and wrote, Group Captain Varun Singh served the nation with pride, valour and utmost professionalism. I am extremely anguished by his passing away. His rich service to the nation will never be forgotten. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti.

Last Thursday, Group Captain Singh was shifted to the Command Hospital in Bengaluru from Wellington in Tamil Nadu. The Group Captain was admitted to a hospital in Wellington with severe burn injuries on Wednesday following the crash.
