Five -time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings kept alive their play-offs hopes alive as they clinched a 5- wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in a Tata IPl 2026 encounter in Chennai . CSK won the toss and opted to bowl first .
LSG were off to a flier with Aussie wicket- keeper batsman Josh Inglis doing the maximumdamage with shots all- around the wicket from the first ball. Inglis was at his innovative best and made his fellow Aussie partner Mitchell Marsh just a spectator . Inglis blitz was sensational 85 ( 33 balls , 10 fours, 6 sixes), Mitchell Marsh on the other hand with less strike scored 10 .

It was the unbeaten cameo 43 by Shahbaz Ahmed ( 25 balls 3 fours , 3 sixes) that saw LSG reach a somewhat Challenging total of 203 /8 in their 20 overs. Given CSK’s batting line- up would it be enough was the question.

Chasing 204 , CSK lost Sanju Samson after a qucik start 28 ( 14 balls , 3 fours, 2 sixes), Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad kept the momentum with 42 ( 28 balls , 3 fours 2 sixes) . The real impetus to CSK chase was given by Urvil Patel who hit a blazing 65 ( 23 balls , 2 fours, 8 sixes) 50 in just 13 balls , Kartik Sharma 20, Dewald Brevis 10 . The quick wickets put chase in jeopardy .
Fortunately for CSK needing 10 off the last over had a cool Shivam Dube in the middle who saw CSK home with two big sixes of Aiden Markram . Dube was not out 15 ( 7 balls , 2 sixes), Prashant Veer not out 18 ( 12 balls , 2 sixes), CSK reaching 208/5 in 19. 2 overs. With this win CSK now are placed fifth in the points table .
LSG were let down due to their sloppy fielding as they dropped several catches and that was the diffrence at the end between the two sides.
