After New Zealand lost the T20 series to India 0-5, , the Kiwis were keen to restore their pride at the ODI series and they did just that. They won the second ODI at Auckland by 22 runs to clinch the three match ODI series . They now lead 2-0 with one game to play.

In reply the much talked about Indian batting failed.Prithvi Shaw ( 24), Mayank Agarwal ( 3) failed to impress. With Skipper Virat Kohli out for ( 15 ), India were staring defeat. Shreyas Iyer ( 52 ) , Ravindra Jadeja ( 55) and Navdeep Saini a useful cameo ( 45 ) tried hard but India fell short by 22 runs. Finishing at 251 all out and losing the series.
New Zealand backed themselves and defended well. Their bowlers struck at regular intervals to jolt India and fashioned a fine win.
