Air India repatriation flight part of the Vande Bharat mission, aimed primarily to bring back stranded Indian nationals home amid the novel coronavirus-induced lockdown, had arrived from Singapore and landed at the Delhi airport with 234 passengers, senior officials of the airline said.
“The B-787 plane of Air India landed at the Delhi airport around 11.45 am,” an official of the airline said.
The domestic aviation industry, which has been severely hit by the coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent lockdown, is expected to crash-land this fiscal with a massive revenue loss of Rs 24,000-25,000 crore, a Crisil report indicated .
The country has been in Lockdown since March 24. The first phase was till April 14. Then it was extended to May 3. And just few days before the end of the Lockdown 2.0, the MHA in view of the surge in cases further extended the Lockdown 3.0 to May 17.
