#USPresidentialPolls2024 : As The D-Day Nears, Curiosity Raises It’s Bar

Kamala Harris, the presidential candidate for the US elections is spiralling high with popularity despite facing years of doubt within her party about her ability to run for America’s highest political office, including President Joe Biden, whom she continues to serve as vice-president. Ever since replacing Biden as Democratic nominee in mid-July, Harris has seen a tidal wave of enthusiasm for her candidacy which is reflected in polling, fundraising and the enormous crowds present at rallies across the country. However, the political momentum and energy she has generated in recent weeks among Democrats was never a given.

Harris began her vice-presidency on a shaky footing with very low popularity. But, over the years she has sharpened her political skills and has build credibility on issues like abortion rights that energise the Democratic base.

After formally accepting the Democratic nomination, Harris has an opportunity to reintroduce herself on the national stage with fewer than 80 days until an election that could see her become the nation’s first female president. But above all, she’ll need put to rest any doubt that she can meet the challenge of defeating former president Donald Trump in what remains a tight and unpredictable contest.

According to The Washington Post, a survey conducted before the Democratic National Convention began, shows Harris leading with a 47 per cent, a few points ahead of Trump’s 44 per cent. The margin, however, falls within the poll’s margin of error of ±4.5 percentage points. The reports further mentioned, that even if additional candidates are to be considered, Harris has been maintaining a three-point lead from 45% to 42%.

Although Harris joined the election race a little later than Trump, it has not stopped her from gaining immense popularity within a short span of time, something which is clearly reflecting in poll and survey data from recent weeks. After the Democratic National Convention 2024, Harris prospects of winning the upcoming elections have risen.

Harris campaign reported raising $40 million following the Democratic National Convention, adding that its peak hour of fundraising came immediately after the vice president’s acceptance speech. In total, her campaign till now has recieved $540 million since she launched her presidential bid a month ago. In contrast, the campaign of former president Trump had about $327 million in their war chest as of Aug. 1, after collecting nearly $139 million in July.

It seems Harris candidacy has generated momentum that has put Trump on the defensive and left him struggling to maintain media attention. At the moment, it appears that the former president is outpaced by Harris’s month-old campaign.

Surely, as the D-day nears, the most awaited elections is turning the heat on with everyday exciting developments. Though, Trump’s ability to turn around the tables cannot be undermined, going by the popularity Harris is enjoying, the road to the finish for Trump will not be a cake walk.
