#TATAIPL-2025-Eliminator : Rohit Sharma, Jonny Bairstow, Jasprit Bumrah Deliver For Mumbai Indians As They Beat Gujarat Titans By 20 Runs

Five-time winners Mumbai Indians kept alive their dream of a sixth IPL title as they beat Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in the Eliminator, which was a high-scoring affair. MI thus sets up a explosive Qualifier 2 clash with Punjab Kings for a lace in the final.

The winner of this encounter will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Tata IPL 2025 final on June 3 in Ahmedabad.

Earlier, MI Skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first. The powerful atting unit came out with aggressive intent. It put GT on the back-foot straight away. Rohit Sharma and Jonny Bairstow who opened the MI innings gave them the perfect start .

The duo lazed away in the power play as MI raced to 84/1 in 7.2 overs. Bairstow was first to be out but not before he scored a power– packed 47 ( 22 balls, 4 fours, 3 sixes).

Rohit Sharma too was in great form as he smashed a fine 81 ( 5 balls, 9 fours, 4 sixes) a hundred was on the cards but it was not to be. Other MI batsmen though got out but not before laying some crucial cameos – Suryakumar Yadav 33 ( 20 balls, 1 four , 3 sixes), Tilak Varma 25 ( 11 balls, 3 sixes) . Naman Dhir was out for 9.

MI Skipper Hardik Pandya gave the perfect finish with some big hits towards the end that proved the diffrence at the end. Hardik was not out 22 ( 9 balls, 3 sixes) as MI much to the agony of GT owlers finished on a formidale total of 228 / 5 in their 20 overs.

In reply to the MI Target, GT lost wickets at regular intervals. GT Skipper Shubman Gill failed in the big contest as he was dismissed chealy for 1. Kusal Mendis 20 , Washington Sundar scored a fine 48 ( 24 balls, 4 fours, 2 sixes) before Bumrah got him with a searing yorker . Sherfane Rutherford 24 , Shahrukh Khan 13.

For GT Opener Sai Sudharsan played a lone hand and attled hard even as wickets fell around him . Sudharsan was out after scoring a fine
80 ( 49 balls, 10 fours, 1 six). Rahul Tewatia not out 16 and Rashid Khan not out as GT could manage 208/6 in their 20 overs.
