Kolkata Knight Riders came out with a solid all – rounder performance to rout Lucknow Super Giants by 98 runs in Tata IPL 2024 encounter in Lucknow.
Earlier, LSG Skipper K L Rahul won the toss at home and chose to field first . KK got off to a flying start with Phil Salt and Sunil Narine . In the power play the duo posted 61-1, 4.2 overs. Salt was out for 32 ( 14 balls, 5 fours, 1 six) .
Sunil Narine on the other hand in sublime form was at his best as unleashed superb stroke play all – round the wicket to score a entertaining 81 ( 39 balls , 6 fours , 7 sixes) . Talented Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 36 ( 26 balls , 3 fours, 1 six) as KKR marched on for big one . Dangerous Andre Russell was out 12 . Rinku Singh ( 16).
Skipper Shreyas Iyer gave the late finish with a quick 23 ( 15 balls , 3 fours). Ramandeep Singh ended the innings in whirlwind fashion with an unbeaten 6 ball 25 ( 1 four, 3 sixes) . Venkatesh Iyer was not out 1 as KKR posted the highest ever total 236/ 6 in their 20 overs.

In reply to the imposing target. LSG lost early wicket . Opener Arshin Kulkarni out for 9 fell to Mitchell Starc brilliantly caught by Ramandeep Singh.
Skipper K L Rahul 25 ( 21 balls , 3 fours) and Marcus Stoinis 33 ( 17 balls , 4 fours, 2 sixes) then forged a partnership . The duo put on a 50 run partnership before Rahul was out for 25 . LSG total 70/ 2 in 7. 3 overs.
New man Deepak Hooda did not last long out for 5 . LSG losing quick wickets . Stoinis who looked dangerous was out for 36 ( 21 balls, 4 fours, 2 sixes) . LSG total 85/ 4
LSG slipped to further trouble as Nicholas Pooran was out for 10 to Andre Russell . The chase was proving too much as Ayush Badoni too was out for 15 . LSG tottering at 108/ 6 in 12. 3 overs.
Ashton Turner hit some lusty blows before he was out 16 as LSG were heading towards a big loss. Krunal Pandya hardly made any contribution with the bat this season and yet again flopped out for mere 5. Yudhvir Singh , tail ender was out for 7. LSG were eventually bowled out for 137/ 10 in 16. 1 overs.
KKR now go top of the table by this thumping win by 98 runs.
