Powered by Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma and fine bowling by T Natarajan saw Sunrisers Hyderabad outclass Delhi Capitals by thumping 67 runs in a Tata IPL 2024 encounter at , Arun Jaitley stadium Delhi.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals Skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to field first. And SRH Batsmen who have been in blistering from in Tata IPL 2024 with their fearless brand of cricket displayed their prowess yet again. It was devastating display of power batting at it’s best. Fours and sixes galore . Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were unstoppable . DC Skipper Rishabh Pant was left shaking his head and bolwers had no answer to the onslaught.
Travis Head hit blazing 89 ( 32 balls , 11 fours, 6 sixes) and Abhishek Sharma 46 ( 12 balls, 2 fours , 6 sixes) . The duo put on 131 in 38 balls for the first wicket when Abhishek fell. In 6 overs the SRH total was astonishing 125/ 0 . Aiden Markram was out quickly for 1. And the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen too did not last long and was out for 15 as DC fought back with quick wickets.
Nitish Reddy rallied the innings with fine 37 ( 2 7 balls , 2 fours , 2 sixes) along with Shahbaz Ahmed who scored a very brilliant unbeaten 59 ( 29 balls , 2 fours, 5 sixes). Abdul Samad was out for 13. Skipper Pat Cummins was run-out for 1. SRH who looked to beat their previous beat of 287 managed to score 266 / 7 in their 20 overs.
DC bowlers were sent on a lather hunt and their figures said it all . Khaleel Ahmed 0/ 51 ( 3 overs), Lalit Yadav 0/ 41 ( 2 overs), Anrich Nortje 0/ 31 ( 3 overs), Kuldeep Yadav 4/ 55 ( 4 overs) given the carnage was brilliant . Kuldeep was superbly backed by Axar Patel 1/ 29 ( 4 overs), Mukesh Kumar 1/ 57 ( 4 overs)
In reply to the mammoth total of SRH. DC were jolted early with wickets of openers . Prithvi Shaw 16 and David Warner 1 . DC total read 25-2, 2 overs. But for DC Jake Fraser-McGurk led the charge with blazing innings . Displaying his awesome power he scored before been dismissed 65 ( 18 balls, 5 fours, 7 sixes) . Abishek Porel continued the gallant chase and was out for a fine 42 ( 22 balls , 7 fours, 1 six).
DC lost wickets in the chase . Tristan Stubbs struggled in his stay 10 ( 11 balls) was poor effort given the stiff target chase . Lalit Yadav was bowled for 7 by T Natarajan. Skipper Rishabh Pant was the last out for 44 ( 34 balls, 5 fours, 1 six) . Axar Patel out for 6(8). Anrich Nortje 0(2) bowled by T Natarajan as DC headed for defeat. SRH winning by thumping 67 runs and takes them to the second position in the points table with 10 points.
