In front of their huge home crowd in Lucknow , Lucknow Super Giants did not disappoint their fans as they beat Punjab Kings By 21 runs in a Tata IPL 2024 encounter.
Winning the toss LSG Skipper K L Rahul won the toss and decided to bat first . K L Rahul did not lasty long though . Out for 15. Fellow opener Quinton de Kock led the batting charge with 54 (38 balls, 5 fours, 2 sixes), Devdutt Padikkal was out for ( 9), Marcus Stoinis ( 19) , Nicholas Pooran gave the momentum with a fine 42 ( 21 balls , 2 fours , 2 sixes), Ayush Badoni ( 8) . There was good late innings cameo from Krunal Pandya 43not Out ( 22 balls , 4 fours and 2 sixes). It saw LSG finish strongly at 199/ 8 in their 20 overs
For Punjab Kings the bowling figures were : Arshdeep Singh 2/ 30 ( 3 overs), Sam Curran 3/ 28 ( 4 overs) , Kagiso Rabada 1/ 38 ( 4 overs), Rahul Chahar 1/ 42 ( 3 overs), Harpreet Brar 0/ 14 ( 2 overs) , Harshal Patel 0/ 45 ( 4 overs)
In reply Punjab Kings got off to a flier with Skipper Shikhar Dhawan 70 ( 50 balls 7 fours 3 sixes) and Jonny Bairstow 42 ( 29 balls , 3 fours , 4 sixes) . But soon after lost regular wickets and hurt their chase . Prabhsimran Singh ( 19) Jitesh Sharma ( 6) , Sam Curran ( 0) , Liam Livingstone not out 28, Shashank Singh remained not out 9. But the target was bit too far . Punjab finishing at 178/ 5 in their 20 overs. LSG winning by 21 runs .
