Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid down the steps taken by his government to boost employment in the country and said that every policy formulated in the last nine years has acted as a “door to generating employment” for the youth.
The Prime Minister’s remarks came while distributing appointment letters to 71,000 new recruits in the National Rozgar Mela on Tuesday.
Addressing on the occasion virtually, PM Modi said, “During the last nine years, there has been a great focus towards boosting employment opportunities in the country. Be it building modern infra or rural development, every plan and policy of the government acts as a door to generating employment for the youth.”
The Prime Minister highlighted that during his governance, the government has also given priority to making the government recruitment process faster, more transparent and fair.
“Today, the entire process from applying for recruitment to getting results has become online. Interviews for recruitment in Group C and D are also over. The advantage of these efforts is that the possibilities of corruption and nepotism have ended,” PM Modi said.
Lauding the schemes and policies of the government, he said that it is creating new employment opportunities for the youth.
“Every scheme of the Government of India, every policy is creating new employment opportunities for the youth. In the last nine years, the Government of India has spent about Rs 34 lakh crore on capital expenditure,” the Prime Minister said.
PM Modi congratulated the candidates and their families for getting the appointment letter.
He further said that the speed and scale at which India is working today is also unprecedented in the history of 75 years of independence.
He further shed light on the “new revolution” the country has witnessed in the start-up culture.
Reacting to the Mela , Congress attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the alleged lack of employment opportunities and accused him of “destroying” governance by “personalising” it and taking it to “new lows” through his “Rozgar Melas”.
The Opposition party also claimed that the job-seeking youth in this country know it is the prime minister who has “destroyed” lakhs and lakhs of jobs.
The Congress’ attack came over Modi giving away appointment letters to over 71,000 people at a ‘Rozgar Mela’ on Tuesday.
In a tweet in Hindi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Modi ji who promised to provide 2 crore jobs annually, in 9 years, has shattered the dreams of 18 crore youth so far. 30 lakh posts are vacant in government departments, but today an event has been organised to distribute only 71,000 recruitment letters!”

The Congress party will give a befitting reply to the “betrayal” of the youth, he said. Congress general secretary, in-charge Communications, Jairam Ramesh also slammed the PM over the ‘Rozgar Melas’, saying that by personalising governance like never before, he has “destroyed” governance.
By personalising governance like never before, this PM has destroyed governance. He has taken it to new lows through his Rozgar Melas—as if he has personally created these jobs, as if he is personally paying those getting these jobs, and as if those getting these jobs should feel…

“He has taken it to new lows through his Rozgar Melas as if he has personally created these jobs, as if he is personally paying those getting these jobs, and as if those getting these jobs should feel beholden to him and him alone,” Ramesh said on Twitter.
The job-seeking youth in this country know it is this PM who has destroyed lakhs and lakhs of jobs both in govt and private sector through demonetisation, flawed GST, crippling of MSMEs and wholesale privatisation of PSUs,” he alleged.
“The PM claims to be a self-made man. Clearly he is obsessed with the man who has made him,” Ramesh said.
