In a major embarrassment for the BJP ahead of the voting In Maharashtra, Bahujan Vikas Aghadi leader Hitendra Thakur alleged that on the eve of the Maharashtra assembly elections, alleged that senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vinod Tawde distributed money to voters in a constituency in Palghar district.
The confrontation unfolded at a hotel in Virar, where BVA workers, alleged that Tawde was caught red-handed with cash. The BVA claimed that a diary found in Tawde’s bag referenced the distribution of Rs 15 crore, The Indian Express reported. BVA MLA Hitendra Thakur from Vasai-Virar alleged that Tawde had arrived with Rs 5 crore in cash.
According to PTI, The BJP has, however, rubbished the allegations, saying Thakur’s claim was nothing more than a publicity stunt and the Maha Vikas Aghadi was making these allegations as it is headed for defeat.
Taking to X, Shiv Sena Sanjay Raut said, “The BJP’s scheme has come to an end. Thakur has done what the Election Commission should have done. EC officials search our bags and scrutinise us, yet these individuals from the BJP face no such checks.”

Following the accusations, the Election Commission (EC) reportedly filed an FIR against Tawde.
Shiv Sena ( UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Priyanka Chaturvedi in a video on X said , Uddhavji’s bag was checked multiple times but the ones truly carrying the cash bags went unchecked. Today a lot of people stand exposed. Waiting to see what action will be taken on BJP and its General Secretary Vinod Tawde ji.

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate quoted by ANI said , “Vinod Tawde is not an ordinary worker but national general secretary of BJP. Why was he in a hotel in Virar East? A bag and Rs 5 crores in cash was recovered from him. Is this not a way to influence elections? He needs to answer why he had Rs 5 crores with him. Vinod Tawde needs to say why was he distributing money?”
