England levelled the three match ODI series against India as they won the second ODI by an emphatic 86 runs at Lords.
England Test skipper Joe Root laid the England foundation for big total with a fine ton. England posted a good total of 322 for 7 thanks to 113 from Root and handy effective fifties from skipper Eoin Morgan and David Willey .
Then England came up affine show with the ball and bundled out team India for 236 . Liam Plunkett was the star with four wickets for 46, Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali bowled economical spells to put pressure on India. Adil claimed two wickets while Ali, David Willey and Mar Wood scalped wicket each to cap a fine – all- round show for England.
India while chasing lost wickets at regular intervals and batsmen got off to starts but failed to carry on. Virat Kohli (45) and Suresh Raina (46) battled hard but it was not enough. Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 37, Hardik Pandya scored only 21.
The 37- year-old superstar ,MSD, during his knock achieved two significant career milestones – reaching the 10,000 runs barrier and taking 300 catches.
He is now the fourth India after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and ‘The Wall ‘ Rahul Dravid to go past the 10,000-run mark in the 50-over format of the game .
