Playing with certain intensity and desire in this World Cup in Russia 2018, for the first time England in their World Cup history had managed to win a crucial match on penalty- shoot outs. The English lions survived a stiff challenge as they beat a Colombian team with a 4-3 (1-1) victory
Leading from the front England skipper Harry Kane cored his sixth goal of the tournament as he converted a penalty to give England the lead in the 57th minute . But the lead was short-lived as Colombia drew level in the third minute of the injury time when Yerry Mina cored thus taking the game to extra time.
But with goalless in extra time, it was time fro dreaded penalties to decide the outcome . England romped home, with Carlos Bacca and Mateus Uribe failing to convert for Colombia. Jordan Hendersen missed out for England but Kane, Marcus Rashford, Kieran Trippier and Eric Dier scored one after other to fashion a stunning win.
After reaching the quarters after 12 years for the England will now play Sweden for place in the semis for the first time in 28 years.
