After the exit of Vivo as IPL title sponsor, due to the backlash post Galwan clash between India and Chinese soldiers at Ladakh that saw 20 Indian soldiers killed, the pressure was on BCCI to dump VIvo as title sponsor.
The search for new title sponsor had begun and now the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally announced that fantasy sports platform Dream11 as the new title sponsor for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The 13th edition of the IPL which will be played in the UAE from September 19 to November 10. Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed to ANI that Dream 11 will pay BCCI Rs 222 crore.
The BCCI had earlier announced Companies with a turnover of over Rs 300 crores will be allowed to bid for the rights which are available for the period from August 18, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
Multinational Group Tata Sons ,digital education technology platforms Byju’s and Unacademy ,Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali and Jio Communications were also in the fray to join the race for IPL title rights.
