Indian weightlifters seem to be on golden run at the CWG 2018. After Miraba Chanu bagged India’s first Gold medal, it was the turn of weightlifter Sanjita Chanu to do the nation proud . She won her second successive Commonwealth Games gold medal, in Gold Coast, Australia.
The 24-year-old Manipur lass, participating in the 53kg category, smashed the Games record in snatch and in the process gave India its second gold medal from weightlifting.
Sanjita’s total lift was 192kg (84kg+108).
Sanjita had bagged Gold at the Glasgow CWG 2014 in the 48 kg category.
Former India cricketer and explosive opener Virender Sewag hailed the effort in his tweet
