The TMC versus BJP battle ahead of the assembly polls next year is getting uglier. In the latest incident that will further spark the bitter rivalry, Bharatiya Janata Party national president J P Nadda’s convoy, on its way to Diamond Harbour area in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district from Kolkata was hurled with stones.
Unfazed by the attack, Nadda later while addressing party workers said : “There isn’t a car in our convoy which was not attacked. I am safe because I was travelling in a bulletproof car. This state of lawlessness and intolerance in West Bengal has to end.”
Nadda further sated : I can say with confidence that Bharatiya Janata Party will form the next government in West Bengal in 2021, lotus will bloom.”
BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya’s car was also completely ransacked in the melee, sources in the saffron party said.
I have been injured in this attack. The party president’s car was also attacked. We strongly condemn it. In the presence of police, goons attacked us. It felt as if we were not in our own country: BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya at South 24 Paraganas https://t.co/H6FFf2G8WD pic.twitter.com/KSVIhDzUN8

“On our way to Diamond Harbour, Trinamool Congress supporters blocked the road and pelted Naddaji’s vehicle and other cars in the convoy with stones. This only shows the true colour of the TMC,” Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh said.
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar tweeted his anguish over the attack
Concerned at alarming reports of anarchy and lawlessness @MamataOfficial indicating ruling party harmads on rampage at BJP President Convoy and political police @WBPolice in support.
This happening inspite of my alerts to CS & DGP early morning indicated collapse of law & order
