Former Russian tennis superstar Maria Sharapova has surprised her ardent fans on her 35th birthday. The tennis diva while taking to the social media picture handle Instagram has announced that she is pregnant and expecting her first child soon .
Sharapova and British businessman Alexander Gilkes revealed that they were engaged on December 2020 . The duo were apparently dating each other since 2018 .
Sharapova is former World number women’s tennis player and first Russian to achieve Grand Slam in tennis history . She won the Australian Open in 2008 , French Open twice in 2012 and 2014, Wimbledon in 2004 and the US Open in 2006
Maria who retired from tennis in 2020, shared the news on Instagram to her 4.2 million followers.
“Precious beginnings!!!,” she wrote alongside a photo of her standing on a beach and smiling. “Eating birthday cake for two has always been my specialty.”
