Bangladesh came out with lot of intent as they were asked to bat by Indian skipper Rohit Sharma . They got off to a flier . Openers Liton Das 121 off 117 balls, put on 120 runs for the opening wicket with Mehidy Hasan (32). A 300 plus total looked on the cards.
But poor shot selection and fine bowling by Kuldeep Yadav three for 45 , Kedar Jadhav 2 for 41. Brilliant fielding by Ravindra Jadeja, alert Mahendra Singh Dhoni behind the stumps and good bowling the end by Jasprit Bumarah saw Bangladesh collapse to 222 all – out.
India in chase made a heavy weather and struggled to get to the total . Shikhar Dhawan (15) and Rohit Sharma (48), Amabati Rayudu ( 2) feel causing panic in the batting line- up . Kedar Jadhav got injured and was off the field and returned towards the end.
In between Dinesh karthik ( 37 ) and hit a six but looked edgy during his 61-ball stay before being he was trapped leg before wicket by Mahmudullah Riyadh. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (21) and Ravindra Jadeja (23) added vital runs towards the end
Dhoni struggled to get going and consumed a lot of balls putting lot of pressure on the batsmen, hitting only three boundaries during his slow innings of 36 from 67 balls.
Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar’s partnership kept India in control as they kept the runs coming at a good rate before the former was caught behind off Rubel for 23, forcing Jadhav to walk out to the middle.
Bhuvneshwar fell caught behind to Mustafizur in the 49th over but Kuldeep and Jadhav 23 not out ( back after injury) kept their nerves to fashion a thrilling 3 wicket win in front of jam packed crowd at Dubai. India finishing at 223 / 7.
It was also India’s seventh Asia Cup title . And second tournament this year under Rohit Sharma. He lead India to win the T20 tri- series in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh was the other team in the Nidahas Trophy.
