Manipur : Big Win For Security Forces , Six militants of the banned outfit UPPK including a minor involved in extortion , intimidation, kidanapping arrested

Six militants, including a minor, allegedly involved in extortion, intimidation and kidnapping, have been arrested in Manipur’s Imphal Valley districts, the police said on August 26, .

The cadres belonging to the banned outfit United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) were apprehended  from different locations in Bishnupur, Imphal East and West districts.

One of the insurgents, identified as 51-year-old P Koireng Singh, was apprehended from Koirengei Forest Gate in Imphal West district. He is a maali (gardener) in the state forest department, an official statement said.

A total of 23 letterheads of UPPK were seized from the possession of the arrested militants, it said, adding that the insurgents confessed to their involvement in kidnapping, extortion and intimidation.

Meanwhile, security forces seized a cache of arms and ammunition during a cordon and search operation at Taphou Kuki in Kangpokpi district and adjoining Taphou Liangmai in Senapati district, the statement said. Two SBBL guns, 78 rounds of 12-bore cartridges and empty cases of AK-47 and .22 gun were found.

Manipur police on X wrote, teams of Special CDO arrested six cadres of UPPK (United People’s Party of Kangleipak) from different locations: 1. Elangbam Rabikumar Singh (24) of Hiyanglam Warkhong, Kakching District, A/P at a rented house at Mantripukhri, arrested from Mantripukhri area. Three arrested from Khabam Leikai near Ibudhou Marjing Gate: 1. Waikhom Arun Singh (20) of Khabam Heibongmakhong, Imphal East, 2. ⁠Ahongshangbam Avinash Singh alias Andy (26) of Kwaksiphai Mamang Leikai, Bishnupur District, 3.⁠One juvenile. Arrested from Pangei Bazar: 1. ⁠Elangbam Alexander Singh (21yrs) of Hiyanglam Warakhong, Kakching District, and Arrested from Koirengei Forest Gate: 1. Phuritshabam Koireng Singh, 51yrs of Pheidinga Bazar. He is a Mali of Manipur Forest Department. The following items were seized from them: 1. 23 (Twenty three) Letter heads of UPPK, 2. ⁠Baofeng Handheld WT set, 3. ⁠An Astar car, silver colour (MN01 CS-2622), 4. ⁠A Pleasure two-wheeler (MN06SE-7395). The arrested persons disclosed their involvement in prejudicial activities including kidnapping, extortion and intimidation.
