India snatched a hard- fought win by four wickets in Vadodara against New Zealand in the first ODIof the three-match series to take a 1-0 lead . The match was a high scoring encounter as the match saw over 600 runs scored.
Earlier India Skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field first . The Black caps did bat well to post a challenging total of 300/8 inn their 50 overs . Their top guns fired – Devon Conway ( 56), Henry Nicholls ( 62) , Daryl Mitchell ( 84). The rest got starts but could not carry on and that dipped their total from a 350 plus target. Will Young ( 12), Glenn Phillips ( 12) , Mitchell Hay ( 18), Skipper Michael Bracewell run-out 16 , Zakary Foulkes ( 1). The two not out batsmen were Kristian Clarke ( 24), Kyle Jamieson ( 8)

In reply to the target of 301, India lost Rohit Sharma for 26. Skipper Shubman Gill blasted his way back to form with a timely 56 . But it was the chase master legend Virat Kohli who anchored India’s chase with a a superb knock of 93 off 91 balls . Virat missed his ton ton but nevertheless played key role in India’s win.
