India avoided a 3-0 whitewash in the three- match ODI series against Australia as two legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli put on a a batting mastercalss to power India home by emphatic 9 wickets in the final ODI at Sydney Cricket ground.
Earlier Australian Skipper Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bat first . And Indian bowlers did well to restrict the Aussie batting line- up to a modest target of 236 . The Aussie unit got starts but non could make it /convert it to a big one . Mitchell Marsh ( 41 ) , Travis Head ( 29), Matthew Short ( 30), Matt Renshaw ( 56), Alex Carey ( 24), previous match hero Cooper Connolly (23). Australia were bolwed out for 236/10 in 46.4 overs. That Australia could not bat the whole 50 overs told the dominance of the Indian bowling attack.
India bowling : Mohammed Siraj 1/24( 5 overs) , Harshit rana ( Under fire for place in the playing XI) reposed Head Coach Gautam Gambhir’s faithe with fine figures 4/39 ( 8.4 overs), Prasidh Krishna was all over 1/52( 7 overs), Kuldeep Yadav 1/50 ( 10 overs) , Axar Patel 1/18 ( 6 overs), Washington Sundar 2/44 ( 10 overs)
In reply , India were off to a solid start with Skipper Shubman Gill and Roihit Sharma . The duo took the total to 69 when Gill fell for 24 in 10. 2 overs. Rohit having found his touch in the previos game with 73 looked fluent . There was pressure on Virat Kohli after two unwanted ducks .
The two masters Ro – Ko as they are fondly called now rolled back the good old days as they put ona sterling 168 run unbroken stand to power India home to a stunnig 9 wicket win. Rohit was in his usual best and smashed his 33rd ODI ton . A superb 121 not out ( 125 balls , 13 fours, 3 sixes).

King Kohli Virat blasted a fine unbetaen 74 ( 81 balls 7 fours). It had all the Virat attribute – hard running between the wickets, power drives and those gorgeous cover drives and some iinovative shots too behind the wickets. It was a master class by Rohit and Virat . India finishing at 237/1 in 38. 3 overs. It was a fine win and perfect last match in Australia for Virat and Rohit .

Aussie bowling tried hard but Ro- Ko were just too good for them in this match. Mitchell Starc 0/31( 5 overs), Josh Hazlewood 1/23 ( 6 overs) , Nathan Ellis 0/60 ( 7. 3 overs), Cooper Connolly 0/36 ( 5 overs), Adam Zampa 0/50 ( 10 overs), Mitchell Owen 0/2 ( 1 over) Matthew Short 0/29 ( 4 overs)
Australia clinched the series though 2-1. The two sides now face each other in five- match T20I series beginning on October 29 in Canberra. Suryakumar Yadav will lead India.
