The BCCI while looking at the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in mind have made a move. Rohit Sharma has been replaced as ODI Skipper by Test Captain Shubman Gill.
Gill had impressed all with his batting and captaincy during the tour of England in the Tendulkar- Anderson trophy . Gill will lead India in three– match ODI series against Australia beginning on October 19.
Rohit Sharma and Superstar Virat are alo in the sqaud announced by BCCI Chairman of Selectors Ajit Agarkar. Shreyas Iyer has been named Deputy.

K L Rahul was named as the wicketkeeper along with Dhruv Jurel, who earned his maiden call up to the ODI team in place of Samson as the second wicket-keeper.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was also named in the ODI team, with all-rounders Nitish Kumar Reddy replacing Hardik Pandya as the seam bowling all-rounder in both the ODI and T20I teams.
Rohit had led India to the ICC Champions Trophy title in March and the T20 World Cup title last year. Under him, India finished runners up in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Suryakumar Yadav, despite struggling for runs, was retained as the T20I captain after recently leading India to the Asia Cup T20 title.
Among the bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, both of whom are playing in the ongoing West Indies Test series, were given a rest for the ODI series, but feature in the five-match T20I series starting on October 29.
Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was not available for selection after failing to recover from his injury sustained during the England series.
