#West Bengal : Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Says Agreed To 99 % Of Junior Doctors Demand ; Requests Them To Come Back To Work

Accepting the bulk of the five-point charter of demand placed by the agitating junior doctors, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced her decision to transfer a section of Kolkata police and the state health department top brass, including commissioner of police Vineet Goyal, from their respective positions.

Banerjee also announced the removal of the director of medical education and the director of health services besides the deputy commissioner (North Division) who allegedly offered money to the parents of the RG Kar victim.

“We will announce the name of the new police commissioner after 4 pm on Tuesday after the scheduled hearing in Supreme Court gets over,” the chief minister said at the stroke of midnight after concluding her meeting with the agitating junior doctors at her Kalighat residence, barely hours ahead of the scheduled Supreme Court hearing on the RG Kar hospital matter.

Later quoted by ANI, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said ,”… We have accepted 3 of their 4 demands… DC North (Abhishek Gupta) will also be removed and a decision will be taken about the new DC tomorrow. Apart from this, full attention will also be paid to the security of the doctors…”

Mamata further said , We have agreed 99%, what else can we do? We have requested the junior doctors to come back to work so that the common citizens won’t suffer…”
