Delhi Capitals got back to their winning ways once again as they Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets during their IPL encounter at Eden Gardens , Kolkata.
DC skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and asked KKR to bat first. KKR got an early set- back when Joe Denly was bowled by a beauty from Ishant Sharma for 0 and KKR 0/ 1 . But after the early jolt , Robin Uthappa ( 28) Shubman Gill ( 65) 39 balls , seven fours and two sixes and in- form Andre Russell a typical blazing 21 ball 45 with three fours and four sixes helped the KKR reach a target of 178/ 7 in their 20 overs. Piyush Chawla hit some lusty blows towards the end too and remained unbeaten on 14 with two sixes.
For the DC the wicket- taking bowlers were Ishant Sharma 1/ 21 ( 4 overs) , Chris Morris 2/ 38 ( 4 overs) , Kagiso Rabada 2/ 42 ( 4 overs) , Keemo Paul 2/ 46 ( 4 overs)
Delhi Capitals in reply looked confident . Despite losing Prithvi Shaw ( 14) , Shreyas Iyer ( 6 ) early. Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant did not allow any more jitters. The duo played key roles in the win. Shikhar narrowly missed his ton . He remained unbeaten on 97 off 63 ball with 11 fours and two sixes.
Rishabh Pant too came to the party and stroked in his characteristic style a power packed innings of 46 off 31 balls with four fours and two sixes. Pant fell just when DC were about to reach home. Colin Ingram not out 14 ensured Capitals romp home by 7 wickets.
For KKR the wicket – takers were , Prasidh Krishna 1/ 25 ( 3 overs) Andre Russell 1/ 29 ( 3 overs) , Nitish Rana 1/ 12 ( 2 overs)
Delhi climbed to fourth spot with eight points from seven matches, while this was KKR’s second straight defeat after losing to Chennai Super Kings in their last match. They now have eight points from seven games
