Lucknow Super Giants consolidated their play-offs chances further as they held their nerves and overcame poor fielding to beat Delhi Capitals by 6 runs in the 45th Match of the Tata IPl 2022 at the Wankhede stadium on a hot day game .
K L Rahul the Lucknow Super Giants skipper won the toss and batted first . Quinton de Kock was out for ( 23) . In impressive form right through LSG skipper K L Rahul played yet another fine knock a 51 ball 77 with four fours and five maximums. Deepak Hooda another star in form for LSG scored an attacking 34 ball 52 with six fours and 1 six. Marcus Stoinis ( 17 not out ( and Krunal Pandya ( 9 not out ) saw LSG reaching an imposing 195/3 in their 20 overs.
For Delhi Capitals the bowling figures were : Mustafizur Rahman 0/ 37 ( 4 overs), Shardul Thakur 3/ 40 ( 4 overs) , Chetan Sakariya 0/ 44 ( 4 overs), Axar Patel 0/ 25 ( 4 overs) , Kuldeep Yadav 0/ 29 ( 3 overs) Lalit Yadav 0/ 16 ( 1 over)
Chasing a big total , Delhi needed a good start but it never came . Openers Prithvi Shaw ( 7) and David Warner ( 3 ) fell early . Skipper Rishabh Pant yet to play big innings started well but could not carry on . Pant was out or 30 ball 44 with seven fours. Aussie Mitchell Marsh threatened to play a big innings by hitting monstrous big shots in 20 ball 37 with three fours and three sixes. He unfortunately did not go a for review when he was decided to walk thinking he had nicked the ball to the wicket- keeper. But the review replays on screen showed no ultra edge on the bat. The Delhi dug out was on disbelief when it was displayed on screen. Lalit Yadav was out for . The big hitting Rovman Powell scored a quick 21 ball 35 with three fours and two sixes.

Axar Patel was not not out 42 and Kuldeep Yadav not out 16 as Delhi finished six runs short at 189 / 7 in their 20 overs. Had Mitchell Marsh or Rishabh Pant stayed a bit longer the match could have swung their way. Another loss for Delhi means their play-offs chances become slimmer.
