Lucknow Super Giants produced a fine all – round effort as they beat Gujarat Titans by six wickets in Tata IPL 2025 encounter in Lucknow on sultry day. Gujarat Titans will have only themselves to blame for the loss as their batting floundered after a good start.
Earlier , LSG Skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to field first . GT were off to steady and good start with their in- form openers Skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan . Both went on to hit fifties and put on 120 in 21. 1 overs for the first wicket, Gill was out first for 60 ( 38 balls, 6 fours, 1 six) . Sudharsan followed soon after for 56 ( 37 balls, 7 fours , 1 six) total 122/ 2 in 13. 1 overs . Dramatically after the duo’s exit the GT innings fell apart.
The rest of the batting line- up struggled for runs and GT could score only 60 runs in the remaining 8 overs and lost six wickets in the process. LSG bowlers pegged them back with regular wickets. And some tight line and length.
Jos Buttler ( 16) , Washington Sundar ( 2) , big- hitting Sherfane Rutherford 22 ( 19 balls , 3 fours) , Rahul Tewatia ( 0), Rashid Khan not out 4, Shahrukh Khan not out 11. GT posting a below par 180/ 6 in their 20 overs. Where at one stage they threatened to score 200 plus given the opening stand .
LSG bowling : Shardul Thakur 2/ 34 ( 4 overs) , Akash Deep 0/ 33 ( 3 overs) , Digvesh Rathi 1/ 30 ( 4 overs), Ravi Bishnoi 2/ 36 ( 4 overs) , Avesh Khan 1/ 32 ( 4 overs) , Aiden Markram 0/ 15 ( 1 over)
In reply , LSG had anew opening combinational as Mitchell Marsh sat out with injury . LSG Skipper Rishabh Pant came out with Aiden Markram . The duo put the team in control of the chase with a fine opening stand.
The duo put on 65 in 6. 2 overs when Pant fell first for 21 ( 18 balls , 4 fours) . Markram was the second to go at the total of 123/ 2 in 11. 1 overs but not before he had scored a fine 58 ( 38 balls, 9 fours, 1 six) .

Despite wickets LSG were on course . Nicholas Pooran in terrific form smashed yet another entertaining innings before been dismissed for 61 ( 34 Balls, 1 four, 7 sixes) . David Miller was out early for ( 7).
Ayush Badoni not out 28 ( 20 balls, 2 fours, 1 six) and Abdul Samad not out 2 saw LSG home. LSG reaching 186/ 4 in 19. 3 overs.
It was not an easy chase as it looked . GT would rue the last 8 overs of their innings. After been 120 in 12 overs. That slowdown cost them the match
GT bowling : Mohammed Siraj o/ 50 ( 4 0vers) had an off day . Arshad Khan 0/ 11 ( 2 overs) , Prasidh Krishna 2/ 26 ( 4 overs) , Rashid Khan 1/ 35 ( 4 overs) , Washington Sundar 1/ 28 ( 4 overs) , Sai Kishore 0/ 35 ( 1. 3 overs)
