Sunrisers Hyderabad began their Tata IPL 2025 campaign at home in style as they beat Rajasthan Royals By 44 runs in a high- scoring encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
SRH capitalised on the blunder committed by Rajasthan Royals Skipper Riyan Parag. Parag won the toss and opted to bowl first against the power- packed SRH batting line- up and paid the price.
Continuing their blazing game of last year SRH were off to a flying start with openers the dangerous duo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. The duo were devastating in the power play. Abhishek fell for 24 ( 11 balls , 5 fours) . Travis Head continued his awesome form racing away to67 ( 31 balls , 9 fours, 3 sixes).
Switching to SRH from MI , Ishan Kishan made dream debut . Kishan was spectacular as he blazed away to a stunning unbeaten 106 ( 47 balls , 11 fours, 6 sixes) as SRH batting line- up did not let go the aggression.
Nitish Reddy 30 ( 15 balls , 4 fours, 1 six), Heinrich Klaasen 34 ( 14 balls , 5 fours, 1 six) , Aniket Verma ( 7) , Abhinav Manohar ( 0), Pat Cummins not out 0. SRH posing an imposing 286/ 6 in their 20 overs.
RR bowling fell apart. Fazalhaq Farooqi 0/ 49 ( 3 overs) , Maheesh Theekshana 2/ 52 ( 4 overs), Jofra Archer 0/ 76 ( 4 overs ) , Sandeep Sharma 1/ 51 ( 4 overs) , Nitish Rana 0/ 9 ( 1 over) , Tushar Deshpande 3/ 44 ( 4 overs)
In reply RR had no option but to attack . But three wickets in power play rocked the chase . Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal ( 1), Skipper Riyan Parag ( 4) , Nitish Rana ( 11). The RR innings got some momentum with Sanju Samson ( impact player ) 66 ( 37 balls , 7 fours, 4 sixes) and Dhruv Jurel 70 ( 35 balls, 5 fours, 6 sixes) , Shimron Hetmyer 42 ( 23 balls , 1 four, 4 sixes) . But the SRH total was just too much at the end
