Desperate for a win to keep their play-offs chances alive Sunrisers Hyderabad clinched a thrilling 1 run win over table toppers Rajasthan Royals in a gripping Tata IPL 2024 encounter at Hyderabad.
Earlier Sunrisers Hyderabad Skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first . SRH lost opener Abhishek Sharma early for 12 with total at 25-1, in 4. 1 overs. But after some poor scores Travis Head , bounced back to form with a timely aggressive 58 ( 44 balls, , 6 fours, 3 sixes). Head was lucky dropped by Raiyan Parag off the first ball by Trent Boult In the first over. Anmolpreet Singh fell quickly for ( 5).
Young Nitish Reddy played a superb innings an unbeaten one 76 ( 42 balls , 3 fours, 8 sixes0 and along with a aggressive fine unbeaten one by back in-form Heinrich Klaasen 42 ( 19 balls, 3 fours, 3 sixes) meant SRH finished off strongly with a imposing total of 201/ 3 in their 20 overs.

In Reply RR were jolted early as they lost ,opener Jos Buttler ( 0) and later Skipper Sanju Samson ( 0 ) with total at 1 -2, 0.5 overs. Both fell to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. But RR recovered thanks to a superb partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal 67 ( 40 balls , 7 fours 2 sixes) and Riyan Parag 77 ( 49 balls , 8 fours, 4 sixes).
Both batsmen had luck as SRH dropped two catches in power play . One by Pat Cummins and other by Abhishek Sharma . The two dropped chances threatened to haunt SRH and take the game away.
But after Jaiswal and Parag’s exit , RR lost flurry of wickets as SRH hit back with crucial wickets . SRH Skipper Pat Cummins leading the way. Shimron Hetmyer ( 13) , Rovman Powell ( 27 ) , Dhruv Jurel ( 1) fell in dramatic succession. Ravichandran Ashwin was not out 2 but only see RR go down by 1 run. It was RR’s game with Parag and Jaiswal in the middle but the blew it . RR finishing at agonising 200 / 7 in their 20 overs.
