Rajasthan Royals kept their home record perfect as they beat Delhi Capitals by 12 runs in Tata IPL 2024 encounter at Jaipur . It was a low scoring encounter.
DC Skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to bowl first . The Royals got off to a slow start with DC Bowlers pegging them back with good line and length . Yashasvi Jaiswal ( 5), out of form Jos Butteler ( 11) and Skipper Sanju Samson fell for ( 15) . Promoted up the order Ravichandran Ashwin scored a quick 19 ball 29 with three sixes. Dhruv Jurel scored 12 . The star of the innings and the one responsible for giving the Royals a total to defend ws 22- year old Riyan Parag . Showing his immense talent the youngster from Guwahati scored a blazing unbeaten 84 ( 45 balls , 7 fours and 6 sixes) . Shimron Hetmyer was the other batsman not out on 14
He scored a stunning 25 runs of the last over bowed by South African speedster Anrich Nortje with scores of 4, 4, 6, 4, 6, 1 in the final over to hit his highest T20 score. Thanks to Parag’s onslaught RR reached a 185/ 5 in their 20 overs.

In reply DC opener Mitchell Marsh threatened to go big with 23 ( 12 balls , 5 fours) but he fell soon after. Ricky Bhui did not trouble the scorers ( 0). Retired from Teats, ODI’s David Warner still showed his T20 value with a fine 49 ( 34 balls , 5 fours, 3 sixes). DC wished had he lasted longer. DC Skipper Rishabh Pant could manage 28 ( 26 balls , 2 fours, 1 six) . He has looked fit but short of the short of the shot making prowess he is known for . Tristan Stubbs chipped in with 44 ( not out) ,Abishek Porel and Axar Patel (15) could not get the team over the line . DC managing to reach 173/ 5 in their 20 overs. Head coach Ricky Ponting, Director Of cricket Sourav Ganguly will have a lot to think about after two losses. So will be Rishabh Pant the skipper.
