Rajasthan Royals began their Tata IPL 2024 in their home ground Jaipur in some style as they beat Lucknow Super Giants by 20 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Royals Skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat first . England ODI T20 Skipper Jos Buttler’s poor form continued as he fell for 11. IN- from for India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal too did not last long scoring 24. It was left to Skipper Sanju Samson to play a special and he showed his class with superb unbeaten knock of 82 ( 52 balls, 3 fours 6 sixes). He was in full flow and hit some innovative shots as well. He received good support from young Riyan Parag . Parag scored a useful 43 ( 29 balls , 3 fours , 1 six). Shimron Hetmyer fell early for 5. Dhruv Jurel who made his Test debut for India during the series against England played a nice cameo 20 ( 12 balls, 1 four , six). Royals putting on a competitive 193/ 4 in their 20 overs .

In reply, Lucknow Super Giants were rocked early with twin blows by seasoned Kiwi left-arm seamer Trent Boult , who has the canny ability strike early in power play removed Quinton De Kock ( 4 ) and Devdutt Padikkal ( 0).
Making his IPL debut Nandre Burger bagged the wicket of Ayush Badoni . LSG innings got the momentum thanks to Skipper K L Rahul who struck a fine 58 ( 44 balls, 4 fours 2 sixes) He fell at the wrong time to dent LSG chase .
Rahul got good support from Nicholas Pooran who remained not out on 64 ( 41 balls, 4 fours, 4 sixes). Deepak Hooda scored a fast 26 . Big- hitting Marcus Stoinis was out for 3 . LSG eventually could manage 173 / 6 in their 20 overs . Royals romped home by 20 runs much to the delight of the home fans.
